The National Center for Mediation signed a Memorandum of Agreement this Wednesday with the University of the Philippines MBA Alumni Society to jointly educate the business sector on mediation as a mode of resolving dispute.
The UPMBAASI, the official alumni association of the University of the Philippines MBA program alumni, manifested its support for the NCM’s advocacy to use mediation as an alternative mode in the resolution of business disputes for a faster, more durable and cost-effective alternative to litigation.
More specifically, the NCM and UP-MBAASI endeavor to jointly encourage the business sector to use the Mediation Clause in their contracts and undertake joint education campaigns on Mediation and the Mediation Clause in the form of orientation seminars, mediation clinics and other similar activities.
The signing ceremony was held at the UP College of Business Administration now known as Virata School of Business with Mr. Apolinar Aure NCM president and Fructuoso Sabug, UP- MBAASI president with NCM Vice-Presidents, Mia Corpus, Abigail Modino and Antonio Ortega and UP MBAA-ASI officers Capt. Romeo Roderos, Nielbert de Leon, Mon Castillo, Amanda Garcia, Noly Torres, Armin Sarthou, General Emmanuel Bautista and Alvin Patrick Valentin also present.
The NCM is a non-stock, non-profit organization incorporated in 2007 initiated by the Mediation Committee of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote and encourage the use of mediation as an alternative mode of setting business disputes and provide dispute resolution services to the business community.
Aside from the PCCI, the NCM also has the following as convenors: Philippine Exporters Confederation, Employers Confederation of the Philippines, Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Management Association of the Philippines, People Management Association of the Philippines, Federation of Philippine Industries, and Philippines Inc.
